Students are shown how perceptions can seriously impact officer conduct and cause development of inappropriate responses.

The examination of verbal and non verbal clues to alert the officer of impending violence serves to allow for the diffusing of situations with minimal application of force. Officers are shown through class exercise and video demonstration circumstances and situations reinforcing the lecture material.
